2.8 is the Volume Analytics release. It ships four things that change how you read your training data — and sets up what comes next.

Volume Analytics

Volume Analytics is now a dedicated screen, accessible from the Dashboard by tapping the Volume card.

Choose a comparison window — 7, 14, 30, 60, or 90 days — and toggle between Total Volume and Per-Session average. The hero metric shows the delta against the previous period of equal length: if you're on a 30-day window, it compares against the 30 days before that.

Total vs Per-Session matters more than it looks. Total volume rises whenever you add sessions, even when individual session quality stays flat. Per-Session average normalises for frequency changes — it's the number to watch when your schedule shifts.

Recovery insight. When Intrvl detects a high-strain period followed by a volume drop, it flags the pattern as likely recovery rather than regression. A dip after a hard training block is planned adaptation. The app now distinguishes between the two.

Persistent analytics

Behind the scenes, 2.8 stores per-session analytics snapshots in Core Data rather than recalculating them on demand. This makes the dashboard faster, keeps calculations consistent across every view in the app, and is the foundation for everything coming after 2.8.

If you've noticed your dashboard populating more quickly, that's why.

History Export v1.1

The history export now includes a volumeAnalytics payload alongside the existing sessions and strain data. The payload contains:

Coaches using the Intrvl Analytics dashboard will see volume comparisons populated automatically. The records data shows where each athlete stands relative to their best performance per lift.

See the full History Export specification for the updated schema.
